 The loop handle is part of a normal length lead of approximately 1.4m. We think that the the loop handle is essential for any lead so that the lead cannot suddenly be pulled out of your hand. There will also be a little popper within the exposed loop so that it can be closed for those dogs that love to disappear into the bushes, without it catching on them!! Do note, that the weight of the housing part is only approximately 50gms, so even my Mother's little toy poodle didn't notice she was wearing it.
